Longton is situated within the borough of South Ribble, Lancashire, just 4 miles south west of Preston. The area is popular with walkers and nature lovers with The Longton Brickcroft nature reserve being home to a wide range of wading birds, ducks and geese and nearby salt marshes of the Ribble Estuary, providing excellent walks with views of Winter Hill and the Forest of Bowland.
